A 12-year-old girl in California has sent her Hello Kitty through the stratosphere in a homemade rocket ship.
For her 7th grade science project, Lauren Rojas from Cornerstone Christian School in California, launched a rocket ship into space with an unlikely astronaut on board: her beloved Hello Kitty doll. The aim of her project was to test the effects of altitude on air pressure and temperature.
The mission took two weeks of planning by Rojas and her dad. They used a weather balloon to propel the rocket into space. The miniature spacecraft travelled up 28, 540 metres above the Earth and landed around 75 kilometres away from where it was launched.

This fun project was possible for this student because of the help of her dad. Why not ask a family member, friend or teacher to help you conduct a cool science experiment too?
